stubhub, year in live

🟣 The problem

StubHub makes it easy to get tickets but the fan journey doesn’t end when the curtain closes. There’s currently no way for users to reflect on or celebrate the live moments they’ve experienced. Platforms like Spotify, Strava, and even Duolingo have leaned into end-of-year storytelling highlighting user data in a way that feels fun, personal, and shareable.

StubHub has all the data to do something similar but hasn’t tapped into it, yet. This is a possible missed opportunity to:

  • Build emotional connection with fans

  • Create virality through shareable content

  • Reinforce brand presence after the sale

💬 User Insight

Fans crave meaning, not just access. We spend money, time, and energy going to live events but the memory often fades fast. What if StubHub helped capture and commemorate those experiences? Live events are emotional. StubHub could reflect that.

“I go to a lot of shows, but I forget most of them unless I see an old photo.”

“I’d love a way to look back on the year—like my own concert scrapbook.”

” It would be so cool to make a reel based off of the actual events I went to!”

✨ The Concept: Year in Live

A lightweight, personalized recap that helps fans celebrate the year in shows, games, and unforgettable moments.

Design Goals:

  • Mobile-first, social-friendly

  • Feels personal, but easy to scale

  • Can evolve into a loyalty or discovery feature in the future

  • 🎟️ Event summary – Total events attended, miles traveled, favorite genre

  • 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Shared moments – Friends or venues you visited most

  • 🎶 Top artist or team – Repeat attendee recognition

  • 🏆 “Super Fan” awards – Highlight fan commitment

  • 📤 Shareable story format – Easy to post, tag, or send

🧠 My Process

I approached this like a design sprint, starting with:

  • Mapping out the kinds of data StubHub already collects (event types, locations, purchase history)

  • Identifying the most emotionally resonant highlights a user might care about

  • Sketching a simple UI flow focused on joy, memory, and sharing

  • Keeping implementation light—this could be built in a few key views, embedded into the user dashboard or sent via email

📐 What I Designed- UI cards for key highlights:

  • Event Count + Genre Breakdown

  • Top Venue / Most Visited City

  • Year-End Badge (e.g., “Indie Super Fan” or “StubHub Explorer”)

  • CTA to discover 2025 events based on this year’s favorites

💥 Why This Matters to StubHub

“Year in Live” transforms StubHub from a transaction tool into a memory platform.

Strategic Value:

  • Increases user engagement after events

  • Encourages repeat visits and future purchases

  • Builds brand loyalty through emotional design

  • Drives social sharing = free marketing

  • Lays groundwork for future features like loyalty programs, ticket gifting, or shared fan timelines

Below are a few low-fidelity concept cards designed to visualize what “Year in Live” might feel like. The focus is on emotional resonance, social shareability, and lightweight implementation.
