Project Description
2016 was a killer year for Magento as it was our first Imagine conference as a standalone company and the energy was insane. Back to the Wynn we went after having such an amazing presence there in 2015. Attendance was 3,500+ with merchants, developers, commerce experts, and companies all coming together to celebrate Magento's absolutely stellar community.
Unlike years previous where I was in the trenches back in Culver City I was invited to attend and work the conference from morning till night. Up until the event I was project managing the design and web teams and once at the conference I took a seat as a Senior Designer helping with anything that needed to get done last minute and also live update our LEDs with After Effects animations. I worked hand in hand with the design team, marketing team, and events to create videos utilizing images that were being uploaded and tagged via Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
I would scour the interwebs for our hastags, download images in batches, edit, and create a storyflow that I then rendered and loaded to each LED screen. I met with photographers and set up shoots for the event and ran live updates on our site as event announcements were happening. At the end of the event I was a zombie and desperately needed sleep and some fresh air but it was an amazing event and a huge leap for Magento.
Sidenote, by day two of the event and I was drinking Starbucks espresso shots in the shower so I could rush to my morning call times. If you haven't experienced this design chaos yet, you should.
